I don’t watch the Olympics because I believe that it is more highly politically motivated than skill motivated (and soon, we will have hacky sack in the Olympics, because of no limits of what is allowed), but if the people of the United States are going to donate money to support United States athletes, then we should also support the United States employees. Why has it become wrong for the United States to want our people to have jobs.
As far as Ralph Lauren is concerned, If he is going to have most, or all of his clothing, manufactured outside of the United States, then he should not be allowed ANY tax deductions of any sort. He isn’t supporting our country by hiring employees from other countries (who would have been tax payers had he hired citizens), so he should be responsible to make up the difference in the lost taxes out of his own pocket. The same should apply to ALL business owners who buy, manufacture, and sell more than 49% of their total business supplies and services that come from foreign countries. If everyone that is not rich, currently pay the majority of taxes, and are nearing poverty level (where they will get most of their tax money back, then there will no longer be a tax base to support any government, courts, police, road construction, street lights, parks, Social Security, food stamps (SNAP), Medicare, Medicaid, or any other government/social service program of any kind and you will need to survive on your restaurant/fast food job wages, because that will basically be all that is left. Servces jobs Do Not pay enough taxes to support a country, regardless of the type of government in charge. Imagine if you didn’t have television, computers, cell phones, cars, shoes, new clothes (that now look like they are 50 years old), one meal a day, and you definitely couldn’t support your family. That is where our country is heading because the United States is full of people that think that they can have anything that they want at any time without consequences. We need to work to pay taxes, to pay for our freedoms, and the comforts of life.
If we don’t fix our economy soon, it won’t matter if you’re straight, gay, black, white, Native American, legal, illegal, from the United States, from other countries…because there will no longer be a free country called the United States. When the United States fails, so will the rest of the world.
